Currently, I handle the social media accounts of the church that I pastor, the Mount Union Wesleyan Church. While we’ve experimented with Twitter and Instagram, we discovered that these avenues of interaction and engagement aren’t that popular in our area. So, we’ve focused on Facebook. We regularly chart a thousand or so views per week and hundreds of interactions––not bad, especially when you take into account that we live in a community of fewer than 2,500 people!
For almost a year, I served as social media manager for a boat company. They didn’t build the boats. They service them on-site, with the client’s help, when something breaks. In addition to providing quality service to its customers at a competitive price, the company made it a priority to interact with their customers via social media––Facebook and Twitter, primarily. As social media manager, I redesigned the company’s Facebook page and updated their Twitter profile, in addition to interacting with current and potential clients.
