My much beloved 2001 Volvo S80 finally reached the point that I had always dreaded. Repair bills were in excess of what the car was worth. Repairs, unfortunately, that were not optional; but were, instead, required for normal, every day operation.
Last Wednesday, Crystal and I took my Volvo––she followed me in her Jeep––and set off in search of a new car. We had things narrowed down to a Prius (I was hoping for a Prius or Prius c), a Volkswagen Jetta TDI, or a Toyota Camery Hybrid. In the end (as the post’s title indicates), we bought a Prius. Not the Prius or Prius c, but the larger, roomier Prius v.
In the end, gas mileage, trade-in value, a good deal on financing, and the spacious interior made the Prius v the clear winner. And now that I own a Prius, I’m going to have to give hypermiling a shot.
For more on hypermiling watch the short video that I’ve included at the bottom of this post.
